Philosophy of Biology and Gender Studies. A Delayed Symbiosis
Main Article Content
Abstract
This text seeks to promote a more fruitful collaboration between philosophers of biology and gender specialists. Framed under the Analytical Feminist perspective, it offers two examples that emphasize the fecundity of this effort. On the one hand, the accusations of essentialism usually endorsed against biological approaches to gender and sexuality are revisited and reframed in light of the philosophy of taxonomy. On the other hand, the structure of the biological explanations of gender and sexuality is discussed taking into account the ontogeny and phylogeny fallacies.
