  • The Editorial Team should strive to continuously improve the quality of the journal by publishing high-quality work and, when necessary, issuing corrections, clarifications, retractions, or apologies.
  • Editorial decisions must be based solely on academic merit. Factors such as race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnicity, nationality, or political orientation of the authors must play no role in the review or publication process.
  • The Editorial Team must maintain the confidentiality of the evaluation process and adhere strictly to the standards of a double-blind review.
  • Information or ideas obtained through the peer review process must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage.
  • The Editorial Team should keep authors informed about the status of their submissions and provide timely updates and decisions.
  • Unpublished materials disclosed in submitted manuscripts may not be used in the personal research of editorial team members without the express written consent of the authors.
  • The Editorial Team will use anti-plagiarism software to detect and prevent plagiarism.
  • Crítica is committed to ensuring gender balance within its editorial structures and among its pool of reviewers.
  • The Editorial Team may use AI tools for administrative and editorial tasks such as formatting, plagiarism detection, or style checking. Such tools must always be used under human supervision to ensure compliance with the journal’s standards.

  • Authors must ensure that submitted manuscripts are the result of their original work.
  • Information used in support of a manuscript's claims must be accurate and genuine.
  • Manuscripts must not contain work that has been previously published in whole or in substantial part, in any language or format, nor be under consideration by another publication.
  • Any use of others’ ideas or words must be appropriately credited. Verbatim quotes should be enclosed in quotation marks and fully cited. Paraphrased or summarized ideas must also include complete references. Manuscripts found to contain plagiarism will be rejected and will no longer be considered for publication.
  • Information obtained through personal communication (e.g., conversations, correspondence) should not be included without explicit written permission from the source.
  • Anyone who has made a significant contribution to the manuscript must be listed as a co-author.
  • All co-authors must have reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript and agreed to its submission for publication.
  • Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest, financial or otherwise, that could influence the interpretation or presentation of their work.
  • Authors must disclose all sources of financial support for their research.
  • Authors should not attempt to reveal their identity to reviewers or manipulate the anonymity of the double-blind review process.
  • If an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in a published paper, they must promptly inform the Editor-in-Chief and cooperate in issuing a correction or retraction.
  • Authors must explicitly declare any use of AI tools in the preparation of their manuscript. Crítica does not accept manuscripts in which AI tools have been used to generate content.

Reviewers

  • Reviewers must inform the Editor-in-Chief of any conflicts of interest that could compromise their ability to provide an unbiased evaluation.
  • Any suspected instance of plagiarism should be reported to the Editor-in-Chief.
  • Reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of all materials related to the manuscripts they assess.
  • Reviewers must not use information or ideas obtained through the peer review process for personal advantage.
  • Reviews should be submitted within the agreed-upon time frame. If a reviewer cannot meet the deadline, they should notify the Editor-in-Chief as soon as possible.
  • Reviewers should evaluate manuscripts fairly and based on academic merit, considering factors such as argumentative strength, evidential support, originality, and relevance to philosophical debates.
  • Reviewers must not attempt to identify the authors of anonymized manuscripts.
  • If a reviewer uses AI tools during the evaluation process, this must be disclosed in their review report. Crítica expects reviewers to rely primarily on their own expertise, using AI tools only as supplementary aids.
